SMC Nationwide Open Houses to Celebrate National Pneumatics Day 2025

NOBLESVILLE, Ind., (Mar 10, 2025) – National Pneumatics Day, founded by SMC Corporation of America in 2021 and celebrated annually on April 27th, celebrates the power of air and the importance of pneumatics in sustainable automation. Founded on this same day in 1959, SMC Corporation has since become the world’s largest manufacturer of pneumatic components for industrial automation.

In celebration of National Pneumatics Day, individuals and organizations are encouraged to maintain their industrial compressed air systems. Some essential maintenance practices include minimizing air leaks, changing the element in pneumatic air filters, and reducing the supply pressure from air compressors. The combination of these practices helps to reduce electrical consumption, industrial CO₂ emissions, and machine downtime.

SMC is marking the 2025 National Pneumatics Day with a series of exciting events and initiatives. This year's celebrations include nationwide open houses, a virtual keynote webinar, the presentation of the Sustainability in Automation award, a community day at SMC headquarters, and a social media contest for next generation engineers. 

Nationwide Open Houses:

On Friday, April 25th, SMC will host nationwide open houses at all US sales branches including the North American headquarters in Noblesville, IN in celebration of National Pneumatics Day. Branches are inviting local customers and industrial automation peers to learn about Your Future Factory with insights on total cost of ownership, digitalization, and designing efficiently with SMC eTools. Each location will feature over 15 interactive product demonstrations along with SMC’s latest product innovations.

Sustainability in Automation Award:

Social Media Contest for Next Generation Engineers:

As SMC celebrates the history and advancement of pneumatics, it also recognizes the future of the industry; SMC has invited college-level engineering clubs from across the country to participate in a social media contest leading up to National Pneumatics Day. 

The contest will be live from 12pm ET on April 21st to 12pm ET on April 25th on the SMC Instagram, @smcusacorporation.
